Berks Campus Software Request

Essential Information for Classroom and Lab Software

    • Installation requests must be received at least 8 weeks prior to the time you need the software.
    • Please review the current application suite for Windows or Macintosh before making your request.
    • If not part of the Berks software list, please review the University’s Courseware list.
    • Please Note: Technical problems and licensing constraints may prevent us from being able to comply with your request.

Software Uses for Classroom and Lab

There are two general uses of applications that may be requested.

General Use

    • Beneficial to many students in different curricula.
    • Installed on all computers in all classrooms and labs.
    • Purchased by the IT Academic Budget.
    • Renewal fees paid by the IT Academic Budget.
    • Usually a permanent addition to the software suite.

Courseware

    • Needed to teach your class or classes within your program.
    • Installed in specific classrooms or in a limited number of labs (if freeware or unlimited site license, may be installed in all locations).
    • Funded by the requesting instructor’s department.
    • Renewal fees paid by the requesting instructor’s department.
    • Request must be renewed each semester.

Essential Information for non-Academic Software

    • Installation requests must be received at least 4 weeks prior to the time you need the software.
    • Please Note: Technical problems and licensing constraints may prevent us from being able to comply with your request.
    • We cannot install software listed as personal-use only. We are considered a business or educational institution.

Software Types

There are two general types of software. Requesting either requires the form below.

  • Software installed on the computers.
  • Subscription-based software accessed via the web.

Purchased or Free

Regardless of the financial status of the software, the there is a process that must be followed. Please send your software request to BK-ITRequest@psu.edu
